For today’s health care provider, learning must go beyond factual knowledge to encourage competencies such as team approaches, patient-centered care, and enhanced proficiency in clinical care as demonstrated by patient outcomes. With the burgeoning biomedical and clinical knowledge in medicine, health care providers face potential cognitive overload. Interventions are needed that help clinicians assess, assimilate, recall, and apply new information.
The multimedia educational format, Health Spectrum, was designed with this need in mind. It starts and ends with the patient and can be applied on an individual or systems level. Health Spectrum integrates problem-based learning, evidence-based medicine, collegial and expert influence, and interactivity to create a dynamic learning environment.
